We are a friendly group of 20 or so ringers who regularly meet to ring for Sunday services, on our Practice Night (Tuesday),  and for special occasions such as weddings. You might also hear the bells when we ring quarter peals.

We organise one or two outings a year to visit other churches to ring the bells. Often friends and families join us to enjoy looking round the churches and the towns we visit.

At our annual dinner held in the Parish Centre we take the opportunity to thank those who have contributed to the years ringing.

We also attend meetings organised by the local Branch (Sheffield & District Branch, formerly the Sheffield & District Society) of the Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers. The Association is part of the Central Council of Church Bellringers.

Visitors are always welcome: please come up when you hear the bells ringing, but do open the door at the top of the stairs gently in order to avoid getting in the way of the ropes: there will be a notice on the door downstairs if there is a special performance when the ringers need to be left undisturbed to concentrate

The St. John's band of ringers consists of both people who were taught to ring at Ranmoor and those who learnt elsewhere and have moved into the area. Often visitors from other towers come and join in the ringing. New learners are always welcome and several people taught here now ring at other towers.
